Richard Pells is Professor of History Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of four books on American culture in the 20th century including his latest, Modernist America: Art, Music, Movies, & the Globalization of American Culture, Pells has held fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., as well as six Fulbright chairs and senior lectureships. He has been a visiting professor in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, Cologne, Bonn, Vienna, Finland, Brazil, Australia, and Indonesia.
